Marriage and Human Sexuality

We believe, based on the teaching of God's revelation in Scripture and the meaning of the human person, created male and female in the image of God, that marriage is the lifelong partnership of mutual and exclusive fidelity between a man and a woman. Marriage is ordered by its very nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children.

While we affirm that God does love all people, including those of the LGBTQ+ community, we being a church that believes the inerrant Word of God, i.e. both the Old and New Testament, believe that God made marriage between one man and one woman as they were created.  Marriage is a sacred institution which reflects the mysteries and wonder that God has between Christ and His Church.  It is not just a contract between two persons as secular society portrays, but a covenant instituted by God in His Word and the promises made between a man and woman which finds its fullness of its divinely intended expression as “one flesh” union of husband and wife fulfilling God’s divine design.  Therefore, we only authorize and recognize heterosexual marriages and do not allow marriages between two men or two women or anything outside of which the Bible declares to be acceptable to be performed by the Pastor of this church or be performed in this church or on the property of this church. (Genesis 1:27-28; Genesis 2:18-24; Matthew 19:10-12; Matthew 19:4-9; Mark 10:5-9; Ephesians 5:31-33; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:25-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

The bond of marriage lasts 'until death do us part'. At the heart of married love is the total gift of self that husband and wife freely offer to each other. Because of their sexual difference, husband and wife can truly become 'one flesh' and can give to each other the blessing of children, 'a living reflection of their love'. This means that the bond between husband and wife is a visible sign of the sacrificial love of Christ for his Church.
